Did you make that mess at the beach?
October 2, 2014I did it on porpoise
My son always has the most elaborate reasons for making a mess. Either it was a Rube Goldberg-like series of events that caused an accident or the mess was not really a mess, but in his mind was a hand crafted work of art. Usually it is the later, so I chose to draw him in this pun.
Explanation for the kids (and bad puns)
If you do something "on purpose", it means you intended and meant to do it. It also just happens to sound a lot like the animal porpoise. Porpoises are relatives to the whale and dolphin, but are smaller and have shorter noses than the dolphin. Small dolphins are sometimes mistakenly called porpoises.
Update 10/9/2014
Of course, not long after posting this I was having lunch with my daughter and found her covered in blue marker.
While we try not to eat fast food too often, they had just renovated the Burger King near us and we were hungry for a hamburger.
She had only been out of my sight for a second and I asked her how she managed to make the mess.
I started laughing when she showed me the marker.
Apparently they must have been running a promotion for the movie Dolphin Tale 2,
because her kid's meal had a marker that had what looked like a porpoise on top.
Too punny.
